Phil & Johanna Thorne

phil-jo.jpgPhil, who established City Church in 1985 with a small group of amazing and committed people, met and then married Jo in 1990. They have two boys, Jono and Ben.

Phil, as a church pioneer, has been involved in just about every aspect of church life including leading worship with a guitar for a number of years. Jo still retains an amazing ability in drama presentations having lead drama groups from her teens. Phil and Jo are both involved in preaching and although largely feel called to the East Anglia region, Phil has also preached in churches and conferences across the UK, USA, Germany, Poland, and South-East Asia. The leadership team of City Church recognise that Phil and Johanna have a calling that is beyond the oversight of City Church and have released them to also serve the wider church in the city, region and beyond. Currently Philip is a director of Ground Level, an international apostolic movement overseeing 120 churches. He is part of Partners for Influence (PFI) too, a national grouping of apostolic church leaders. Together Phil and Jo also facilitate Anglia Connection, which serves around 20 churches, as well as Prayer for Revival, bringing many leaders and churches together across Norfolk and beyond.

Phil and Jo’s destiny is wrapped up in Psalm 133 1How good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! 3For there the LORD commanded the blessing—Life forevermore;’ and in Isaiah 58 and the changing of culture, ‘12Those from among you shall build the old waste places; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, the Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.’
