Our Values

Worship

 Celebrating Freedom

There are many dimensions to worship, however, we believe worship is a celebration of freedom.

Free people worship the One who set them free. Worship is a celebration of “renewed desires”, “renewed relationships”, and “renewed purpose”. Worship isn’t about a place; it is about a Person. It is all of me responding to all of God, with my head and heart, with emotions and thought, and with spirit and truth. Where feelings for God are dead; worship is dead. Free people rarely live in neutral; free people worship freely. How do we inspire non-worshippers to worship? We tell our stories of freedom and create relevant environments to introduce them to Jesus: “The Friend of Sinners.” We aren’t interested in criticising or condemning people; we’re interested in offering compassion without compromise. It is City Church's desire to create safe, relevant, and irresistible environments of worship that free people and keep them free.

Connect

Meaningful Relationships

Connection isn’t just important relationally; connection is important spiritually. Connection is the foundation of how people grow. We need to see and experience God in and through others. We need to be challenged, sharpened, and encouraged by others. It is your connection with people that enables you to connect with God. When people feel disconnected from God; it is because they are disconnected from God’s people. Independence from relationship is independence from God. God chooses to connect with people through people. Connection happens by choice, not convenience. Most of the time connection requires you to be proactive, intentional, and committed.

Connect & Life Groups give you the opportunity to move beyond acquaintances to friends. God uses connectedness to influences faithfulness. We all need friends who will encourage us day after day (Hebrews 3:12-14); stimulate us to love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24-25); restore us in a spirit of gentleness (Galatians 6:1); bear our burdens (Galatians 6:2); and live for our progress and joy in the faith (Philippians1:23-25).

Equip

 Maximising Potential

It's easy to become stuck in your growth process. Maximising your potential is harder than you think; it can’t be done with a message alone; you must be equipped by others who embody the message. You need people who instruct you with the word of God because it is the foundation of transformation. You need people who invest in you because God always use people to make Christ personal. You need leaders who involve you in ministry because you stop growing when you stop serving. Lastly, you need people who pass the baton to you and give you the opportunity to impact others because there is no success without a successor. You need to be equipped with God’s principles by God’s people to maximise your potential.

(Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 10:45, (Romans 12:2, Colossians 1:28-29, 1 Timothy 2:2, 1 Thessalonians 2:7-8,1 Peter 4:10)

Serve

 Achieving Results

Serving is the expression of our commitment to the Great Commandment and Great Commission. It is impossible to achieve results apart from serving. Serving isn’t about me; it is about others. Achieving results isn’t about my greatness; it is about God’s greatness. Serving is about loving God more, loving people more, and making more disciples. It is important for us to remember that obedience unlocks understanding; apart from obedience we will intellectualise results instead of achieve results. God will achieve results through us when we worship freely, connect intentionally, equip others, and serve humbly.

(Matthew 22:37-40, Matthew 25:14-30, Matthew 28:18-20, Philippians 1:21-26)
