About Prayer for Revival
Why Prayer for Revival?

We are living in days of great opportunity. Many of us have prayed and prayed that God would break out with a move of His Holy Spirit that would not only revolutionise the church but would be a catalyst for a spiritual awakening, influencing the civic authorities, the market place, the leisure haunts, the streets and the neighbourhoods.

On 17th December 2010, Nathan Morris, the UK evangelist at the heart of the Bay of the Holy Spirit Revival spoke prophetically concerning revival, while being aired globally on God TV. Nathan Morris said, "Here's what the Lord told me. You're not waiting for revival. Revival in here, it's now, get ready. Revival is here, and it's now. Here's what the Lord spoke to me. I believe in the next 18 months that city-wide revivals are going to break out. I believe the Lord in this hour, I believe at the end of 2010 and into 2011 we are going to see an outbreak of revival in the nations of the world. I believe the Lord said to me that I'm going to raise up cities of refuge, places of outpouring where those who are bound, where those that deserve hell will run to these cities to be saved. They will run to the glory, those who are sick, those who are bound will run to the cities of refuge." He had brought a message about God raising up Cities of Refuge and that he believed that this word was for "Norwich in the United Kingdom." "…I speak to Norwich in the United Kingdom, Norwich be awakened by the fire of the Holy Ghost." A few minutes later he called a row forward to be prayed over and one of them, Dave Weeks (at that time Campus leader of City Church Gt Yarmouth) told Nathan he was part of a church in "Norwich in the United Kingdom." He called Dave up onto the platform and said, "Evangelist John has been in Norwich. God has begun to do something there, but I'm believing for an outpouring in Norwich UK. I believe this word preached tonight is coming to Norwich UK. Norwich in the UK be awakened right now!" At the end of the meeting John Kilpatrick said, "God is getting churches ready. It's not going to be a church-wide revival; it's going to be city-wide revivals. God's going to shake cities." Interestingly, there were only two leaders present from the UK that weekend and the other one was Kingsley Armstrong from NFLC.

The truth is God moves more powerfully where there is meaningful unity. In Argentina, where the unity among churches was strongest, that's where revival broke out more powerfully. They found a clear correlation between the depth of unity and the breadth of revival. The truth is, we can accomplish synergistically more together than we can on our own. We do have responsibilities to build the church under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, but we are also to bring in the Kingdom. I believe that these are days when we together can push through the invisible ceiling that has over the decades stopped us going to a new level in God across the city and region. Relationships are developing with leaders meeting for prayer and fellowship. There is emerging a deeper desire to see God move citywide reviving the church and causing us together to be influential for the sake of those that don't yet know Christ. Our desire is that every church across the city and region would be powerfully touched by God, seeing healings and miracles and daily salvations, growing and maturing in the things of the Kingdom.

Years ago, R. A. Torrey (1974) said, 'We live in a day characterised by the multiplication of man's machinery and the diminution of God's power. The great cry of our day is work, work, work! Organise, organise, organise! Give us some new society! Tell us some new methods! Devise some new machinery! But the great need of our day is prayer, more prayer and better prayer.' J. Edwin Orr summarised for me in one sentence his 60 years of study on prayer and spiritual awakening when he wrote: "Whenever God is ready to do something new with his people, He always sets them to praying." This is the entreaty offered in the 1840s by Charles Haddon Spurgeon: "Oh God, send us the Holy Spirit! Give us both the breath of spiritual life and the fire of unconquerable zeal. You are our God. … The Kingdom comes not, and the work is flagging. Oh, that You would send the wind and the fire! And You will do this when we are all of one accord, all believing, all expecting, all prepared by prayer."

Why Prayer for Revival? God is ready to do something. He is looking to bring in the Kingdom more powerfully. He longs to see the multitudes come to a saving faith in Him. Let’s lift prayer to a new level and believe God for amazing, extraordinary and miraculous answers to those prayers.
